We should get off of Rafa's thread with this commentary. Your drawing has the turbo getting and returning water from two places of nearly equal potential pressure, meaning little or no flow. I hate to do this, but I am going to refer you to a thread called "Peter Pan Coolant Re-Route" where all of this was discussed ad-nauseum and a great deal of good info and diagrams exist. Ignore the ideas of Peter Pan himself (also called Hyper), because he is an idiot, but the others did a good job of explaining the various nuances of the cooling system. https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t29112/

Just received my thermostat in the mail. FWIW, all 3 hoses are 1.25 inches in diameter. I've still got to collect some more parts before it's ready to install, but hopefully it all goes well.

I was asking when I posted that route. This is the first reroute thread I'd been involved in and at the time I was thinking about what I wanted the coolant to do, not what physics wanted the coolant to do. People posted, pointing out my error, and I accepted it and thanked them for their assistance. I don't know what more you want from me, but if I've offended you by posting I'm sorry.

I'm gonna be using my heater core, I've gotta figure out how to route this thing. I know I'm gonna need a Protege coolant neck, but am I gonna need anything else, like one of those lame spacers or what?

No spacer needed, you'll just have to find a spot to stick your CLT sensor someplace pre-thermostat.

I'm starting mine in 1 hour. I don't see the benefits of deleting that part.

It isn't disregarded. In the above picture, it's illustrated as joining the lower radiator hose instead of explicitly going into the mixing manifold, but it's essentially the same thing. The difference is that by relocating the thermostat to the front, you don't need to run a hose forward along the hotside to feed into the mixing manifold, you just run it across the front.
