Default 1.6L vs swap 1.8L

I'm running a GT2554, I have a 1.8L and a FM3 mani, externally wastegated, downpipe combo.

The car has a great running 1.6L with only 133XXX miles.

The turbo will only push 200 ish on either motor.

To the guys who have swapped. Is it worth it to you? Or if you had it to do again, would you have stayed with the 1.6L that runs great?

does my opinion count?

if you really only want 200whp from a dynojet, then stay 1.6. Savington made 225whp/200wtq or some **** like that on a Mustang dyno with his 1.8.

I'll may be in Dallas next weekend...or just wait until May 9th to get a ride-along. It might ruin you though.

The 1.8 will provide faster spool and easier power throughout.

It is worth it, because later you WILL want more power.

i hate to start a new thread for this since similar questions are asked practically on a daily basis.
i already have a set of hks 256 cams in my 1.6, with the better flow is it worth going to the 1.8 still? i did not purchase these cams they were a lucky freebee i got in a "replacment" head i bought for 150 bucks on ebay. cams for the 1.8 will not be in the budget. my 1.6 is putting 114.9hp to the wheels to be exact thats a 15.9hp gain over stock - ac and ps 15% gain. would you sell the 1.6 and the cams and put the 1.8 in? or keep the 1.6 turbo it then start a build with the 1.8? my end all goal for the car is 300whp, i would like to hit it on stock internals but i know even with an amazing tune that is prolly well above the safe limit of the rods.

300whp I'd go with the 1.8 for sure.
If it is a wel maintained motor and you don't beat it to hard, I have seen close to 300whp somewhat reliably. But nothing lasts forever. At 300 rods and pistons make a lot of sense.
