1.8 99-00 non-vvt supercharged engine build
Just wanting to make sure im not missing anything or maybe making wrong parts decisions
was originally going ro keep low budget and use maxpeeding rods but they look out of stock in most places ive checked. Instead Manley H beams acl race main bearings and thrust washers acl race con rod bearings Hastings chrome piston rings stock pistons if in good shape otherwise supertech with wiseco rings instead some damper like fluidamper already have the oil pump boundary besides machine work, head studs, mls head gasket, front main and rear seals, gaskets, etc...anything else suggested? i hooe to use stock pistons so the budget can be low enough as i would prefer to keep using 5 speed and rear torsen for a while. Last thing any suggestions on a shop to do the machine work? I can only guess there are a few that really specialize in miata blocks i just dontknow who they are. Im willing to ship the block. |
What machine work are you looking for? From your list, all you need is a cylinder hone...

Hone and deck the block to make sure it is true unless these dont typically need it? Check and smooth crank journals if needed.

Sounds like you are planning to stay in the 250WTQ area, so the 9.5 CR would be OK. You still might wish to consider picking up some NA 1.8 pistons at 9.0 CR (or are they 8.8?).
Based on things I have read, not from experience. DNM |
Ill look into some 9.1 pistons and see what the price is like. Yes i dont want to exceed that torque area. I dont mind those power levels in this car.

Look into oem pistons out of an NA miata, preferably a 1994. They are 8.8:1 pistons. Or 95-97 are 9:1 |
If you have access to 93 then stick with the pistons you already have.

Im in middle tn 93 octane is normal here.
