99 Head Redux...Suggestions?
It's simple, I bought a '99 head that's bare. I bought it with the intention of using it someday, and running stock valves, and stock cams. I'm going to drop this off with my machinist friend who wants to open his own speed shop, but what should I have done to it? He mentioned on the phone "port and polish", but what would you guys suggest?
I will eventually be running this head with a Godspeed GT3076 turbo running on low boost, with a goal of about 260-280whp.

I am awaiting my newly acquired '99 intake to arrive, and I already have my bare cylinder head. I will be dropping them off at my machinist friend who wants to gasket match both of them and do a mild port and polish, and most likely gut my upper plenum. I want to run stock valves and stock cams and lifters. The cams and lifters will be reused from the head that's in my car right now. Should I reuse my stock valve springs? Or should I get new stock springs or titanium springs? I'm thinking I'll reuse my stock retainters, stock cam gears, and obviously install a new timing belt. Could / Should I even reuse my stock valves?
I just have so many questions...
What else do I need for the head?
Should I use brand new stock head bolts or should I use ARP head studs?
Should I buy this gasket kit: http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?...5%20%20NGK%206 or should I get a different kit from another source?

If the guides in the bare head are fine, leave them alone.
In the process of R&R the guides, the centerline of the guide to seat changes slightly, Also if the guide gaulleds up in the casting when being removed, then there are other issues that need delt with.
Have your springs tested and checked agaist spec, if they tech out ok, then use them, if they do not then replace them. This will also apply for the valves.
Ask your machinist froend to check SBI for any parts you need for the head, they make a good line of products.

Sigh. Ok, I will break this down. The mt.net inside joke is that you have to take everything to a high school locker room level, and then take it lower, because we're all (mostly) adults with an appreciation for immature humor.
Context: thread is about a head. The words "port", "polish", and the phrase "valve job" have been used, and are all ripe material. Mt.net inference of the offer: "I'll do a port and polish on your head, baby."
Mt.net inference of the question: "Uhh, are you pos?" Which then leads to my post.
Pm'd with awsome offer.
PM'd you back with awesome question.
