3D scans of NB VVT engine stuffs

I'm doing some reverse engineering and thought I'd share these raw scans. They're just STLs, but I'm working with them in Autodesk Fusion 360 so I'm sharing them from there.

Combustion Chamber

Silicone casting of intake port
Piston top

fusion 360 is the best. fffffreeeeee! Some things are even easier than solidworks, like creating joints. its a great program.

Reverse engineering is never easy, though...

Really?
The VVT valve cover? The whole thing front and back? Inside and out?

Yeah, I can do that.

nice, are you remeshing or modeling from scratch using this as a template?

what scanner are you using, laser or structured light?

I'm trying to do solid modeling around the scans.

I'm using a laser scanning head on a Mitutoyo CMM:

He's a cool dude, and he's worth talking too if you're going to get into this more.
