8* timing offset built NB

I'm slowly getting my built VVT motor up & running. I have gone through the trigger wizard routine, and I was advanced by 18* when trying to hit fixed time of 10*. This is with VVT disconnected to eliminate it as a variable. A little searching says this is outside of the norm for a NB setup (4-6*). the motor is a '96 block and pulley, new NB timing wheel, NB crank sensor mounted to a boundary stage 2 pump. I found Rev's comment on the matter:

By stock, I mean stock trigger-wise, mainly the crank wheel and sensor.

If you have the stock parts in the stock location, and you require a value outside the 4-6 window, either your timing light is off or you can't read the timing off the wheel (have someone else do it for you) or you have an engine issue.

I've never, EVER, seen an NB require something outside the 4-6 window.

Any experience here? I'm basically ready to go romp on it & seat the rings, but I don't want to proceed if 8* timing correction is indicative of some other issue.

Are you 100% sure the belt is on correctly? I too agree that 18* is way outside norm

Just to be clear, 18* instead of 10*

Here are the reference pics I took as I assembled it. I haven't rechecked it since running it.

what exactly do you mean 18 instead of 10

so your end result timing offset number in Trigger wizard was 8?
that's totally fine

I set tunerstudio to fixed timing with a value of 10* advanced. Timing light indicated a value of 18* advanced. I had to add +8* to the trigger wizard tool to get the timing adjusted to 10* advanced. Now with a +8 in the trigger wizard menu, I have 10* advanced timing, right where it should be.

Oh so you're just OCD. Good :)
It's fine.

Haha, that's what I needed. Thanks for the sanity check.
