97 1.8 open diff support broken
2 Attachment(s)
Just recently broke my rear end. Looking into diff replacements locally at junkyards. I've found 2 convertible fc's 88 and 89. Called a dealership with the vin numbers and had them look on their computers to tell me which diff the cars have installed. Both open diffs.
Question is, can I use the pumpkin from either of them on my 97 na 1.8?? I'm looking to get my car running right now, I can always hunt for the fc's internals another time. I don't know if the rx-7's were turbo'd before, no engines in their bay. 33021 area |
If you post your location, someone near you may be able to help with a rear.

so just buy the aluminum part and replace yours... |
What were you doin to cause it to break like that?
Should think about doin the bushings while its apart too. |
The differential I bought years ago from a wrecker was broken like that and they just welded it up. 8 years later and it's still fine.

Stealership wants $900 for a new one, so that's out of the picture.
I called around and no one would dare weld it, fear of being responsible if it breaks and I die. the 88 convertible rx7's open diff pumpkin measures to be the same as my na 1.8's open diff. ____will it hold my internals though? |
your pumpkin will bolt onto the rx7 aluminum half. You'll just have to replace the bushings with miata ones.
Just replace what's broken and get on with your life for $50. |
