99 Block Replacement

Ok replacing block after having some thrust bearing options. Ordering new block looking for recommendations of years. I am running FM Wiseco's with eagle H rods. I have been told that 99 motor's are notorious for this. Looking for good 1.8 block to machine also we will be machining a full face Supra replacement thrust bearing for the motor. As we have seen many of issue's with heavy clutches to hold heavy power. Please again looking for 1.8 year block advice.

So far as I know, the 1.8 blocks and cranks are all pretty much the same. Everything I've read suggests that the thrust bearing problem which plagued the '99 engines was not the result of any design defect, but rather from the fact that a certain production run of the motors were assembled with incorrect thrust bearings.

Cliffs notes: these bearings come in different thicknesses, and you're supposed to choose the appropriate one to achieve the correct end-play, compensating for the tolerances of the various machining operations. Supposedly, all of the motors in a certain run got the thinnest thrust bearing installed in them regardless of what their endplay was.

IOW, there's nothing inherently defective about the '99 engines, they just need to be assembled properly.

Ok aside from all that I need a new block is one better than another overall in the 1.8 lineup .

I have a 99 block available in Lincoln, NE. It threw a rod cap through the side of the pan but the block looks good. 88K miles. Pistons look fine, crank and one rod bad. If I would have known sooner I would have brought it with me. I'm in KC right now. $75 picked up. It's 6 1/2 hours DTD. Don't really want to ship it but would do $175 shipped.
