'99 Charcoal can delete. Mine is the one not like the others
 

So I'm trying to delete the canister in the engine bay. I found many threads about just lookping the lines in the engine bay. I would if I could. Mine only has a feed line, no return. Odd? I'm running a Hydra and don't have to smog anytime soon for years.

Now under the car by the fuel filter is the what I read as the "true" charcoal canister. The big black box. Line on the top is to engine bay and bottom line disappears into the darkness(assuming gas tank.)

There is a bigger hose (about thumb size) on the other end that goes to this little black canister with some sensor on it. Then goes back through the frame toward the gas tank. Hose disappears in image to the left, then leaves little can, and goes to the circular black thing into frame and disappears.

1-Do I just cap off the line leaving the big box and delete everything forward to the bay?
2-Remove whole canister box?
It is a street car so I don't want fumes everywhere. I'm told the hydra doesn't use the canister vent system anyway. Unsure of what to remove and cap off. My concern with just capping off the line at the canister is what happens if it gets full of fuel? Bomb?

I just removed the front canister and connected the lines together. Never gave much thought to the back one. I'm interested to see what others have done, it gives me great satisfaction to pull useless things off the car. Something about gas fumes tends to make me a little more cautious than normal though.

My gas boiled out of the line when I was on bandaids (higher pressure) and a hot track day. That's a good sign of an over heating engine.

With the NAs one of the lines off the charcoal canister is clamped to a fitting on the subframe and vented to atmosphere, I'm guessing that's where that second line is "disappearing into the darkness".

There are two lines on top of your engine bay canister, one to the rear, where's the other one go?

Orange arrows are gas vapor.
Blue is some sensor labeled "boost" that is a factory looking sensor that goes to the intake manifold. Do I need this with a Hydra? I'd like to delete all of this crap if I don't need it. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with VICS.

Any more input as to plugging the charcoal canister at the the can under the car would be helpful. Thanks

Not sure what the "boost" thingy is, but I have one on my 1994.

I believe it's for the egr valve. I left mine alone.

I figured one of the track guys who delete all But required stuff would know. If I can delete the whole bracket of crap I'd be happy. Rigt now I really just want to get rid of the can to make space for my re route hose and clean up the bay. I'm a little over enthusiastic about not needing to smog for the forseable future. Ex Cali guy. I already deleted the egr stuff on the manifolds.

i got rid of the can.... the solenoid for the can... and the boost/1bar MAP sensor. dont need any of them with standalone.

When you removed the can did you cap it off in the engine bay or back at the big can by the fuel filter? Slightly concerned of fuel vapor pooling in the can, I guess since the hydra never used the system nothing would really change regardless where I cap it off.

This is an older pic, don't mind the disconnected bov. I just stuck a small bolt though a one inch hose and jammed it over the hard line. Works.

I used a vacuum nipple to block off the hardline

Just remove the hoses, unbolt, and throw away. :D

I just took mine off, as said above.

My plan is to use the hard line for it to make my 99 Turbo car a return (from the rail) fuel system. So I guess I have the green light to go ahead and jerk all that shit out of there and will not have any issues with tank venting or fuel evaporating off? I have read a lot of threads about the canister and some report smelling gas, and extremely poor fuel economy....

I had to run a vent line back down the frame rail to the rear diff area. Blocking the line made my tank swell, pop and groan.

Did you install a one way check valve?

Negative. The line flows both ways iirc .
