ACL thrust bearings?

Has anyone used them?
The set I received were stamped 8353T, they were the same thickness as the OE bearing but they much smaller then the factory bearing.
I am up in the air on if I should order a factory set or stick with the ACL

I used ACL thrusts in both my motors, but they were the same size. I don't recall what the part number was.

I'm wondering if there might have been a change in the design of the bearing after 97, ACL lists only one part for the BP but the date range only goes to 97.

Your profile says you have a 2005.

This catalog says the P/N you have (8353T) goes up to 2002. Might just be a mistake on their part, though.

First motor I did was a '99, second was an '02, I bought the same ACL set from eBay and it worked in both. Both motors ended up with a thrust measurement of like .006" IIRC.

sweet deal, if you haven't had any trouble I doubt I will. I will take some pictures later to try and illustrate the size difference.

I vaguely remember Mazda changed the thrust bearing design sometime mid NB+.

I think it was less... but you have the notes.

I think I found the answer I was looking for, just going to copy and paste it here

So, the machine shop that is doing my new engine (Wiseco pistons, Carrillo rods, etc, etc) called and said the thrust washers that were in my engine gasket kit (FM kit) were way too big. Knowing the problem with them from the couple dozen threads already and FM's propensity to get things right, I went to look and see what's what. The thrust washers were huge as compared to the slots available. Not too thick, too big in diameter. Off I went to the Mazda dealer to purchase the correct ones. Dealer said cars built prior to June 1, 2000 needed B6Y1-11-SJO. After June 1, 2000 use B6Y2-11-SJO. None in stock but he got them for me today (ordered yesterday). When I held the two side by side, there is a HUGE difference.

Back to the machine shop. New ones dropped in like they were supposed to. Here is my question/concern. Obviously, after the 99/00 thrust washer problem, Mazda redesigned for the much larger units. My engine, with 90K miles at tear down and running like a champ, had them well destroyed but still ran like a champ. Crank and block were still fine. Washers evidently took all the punishment.

OK, here is the question. Are the new small washers going to self destruct too? I didn't see any choice other than a 2001+ block to cure the problem. Is this what caused the problem in the first place for Mazda? They were sized to fit correctly but were just too small for the task at hand? Or was it that they put the wrong ones in the engine? Obviously Mazda has no concerns about selling new ones of this size for engine repairs. Just curious. "

This seems to fit with what I am experiencing. I think I may just run factory thrust washers.
Anyone want a set of ACL race bearings and thrust washers? Bearings are still in their package.
