Anyone interested in VVT COP conversion bracket?
While working on Morpheus we decided to switch to VVT COP setup on the BP4W.
Yes, I know, the MSM valve cover works great for that but I already have my valve cover powder coated and didn't feel like having to do that again. So, we programmed a bracket that bolts the VVT coils onto the BP4W valve cover (might fit 94-97 too, I haven't checked yet) and here's what it looks like - https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b09808058a.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4cc4dcfae4.jpg The only modification you need to do in order to fit this bracket is to tap the 2 holes for the plastic wire brackets into M6 thread using a bottoming tap. If there's any interest I can make a few more, so let's hear it. |
Dammit dude. You're too cool. This is clever.

PM me a price. I was planning to buy parts for Toyota cops this week but I'd rather just use one of the three sets of VVT coils I already have in the garage.
|
Its a nice bracket setup but why aren't we using Toyota coils again?
|
I have a couple sets of the VVT coils laying around.

Toyota COPs are wear items too. Ask me why I have 8 in my spares box. And the answer isn't I have a v8 miata.
|
They are all wear items. All things equal the Toyota setup is half the parts to potentially wear out.
|
My d585 coils are 8 years old and still kicking ass, using the stock blue NGKs that are at least two years old.

For an NA engine, I could see how they are unnecessary, but if your changing them anyway.... |

Will it be cheap? I've got vvt coils sitting on the shelf...
|
It'll be cheap if I send you the adapter bracket w/o threads (M6 x 4), bolts, spacers or finish, like $35-40.
As a finished product, threaded, anodized, bolted and supplied with all the spacers, probably $100 or so. |
CNP, Coil near plug. Not COP.
