ATI installation/experiences

Hi All,

I've been out of the MX5 tuning scene for a year or so but am looking forward to a more normal year and hope to get back into taking the car forward. The first thing on the agenda is to install an ATI damper. When I had the FM stroker short block built I did not go for billet oil pump gears (actually I think they became available just after the build), so am looking to go with an ATI damper to help protect the stock pump gears.

How easy is it to install? I believe it requires a pulley press at the very least.

Anyone have experience of the ATI?

Hopefully this year I can put it to work more!

I should be installing mine this week as long nothing gets in the way of assembling the motor. I plan on taking lots of pictures. Should be pretty simple, is there any specific that you are looking for?

Main area of concern is access with engine installed in the car - FM recommend using a pulley press as it is a very tight fit.

I'll be installing an ATI damper for a Mk2 engine as it'll be designed to accept the stock trigger wheel - I need to machine the centre diameter of the TEC wheel down to the thinner OEM wheel depth, but other than that I am expecting it to be no more complex than the standard install.

Will also be interested in clearance wrt the plastic engine covers, hoping that the TEC wheel will not be too large diameter.

As many photo's as you can take are welcome!

I'll take as many as possible when I do it. The engine isn't in the car though, so I won't be any help with that. May take me a bit longer to get started than I originally thought, but I'll post up when I do.
