Bearings for stupid track abuse

I need to order bearings yesterday. I poked around on M.net a bit; Corky likes Clevites, one guy said ACL and Clevites are the same, and I had a guy who does SM motors recommend ACL Races. I can get mains and rods from ACL for like $60ish so I think that's what I'm going to do, unless someone tells me that ACL races will wet my bed and leave me with a disease. :crx:

I need something that will deal with 350-400whp, too. I have plans. :giggle:

Calico coated bearings. When I had my engine built, their price was nominally more than a full set from Mazda. At least that's the way I remember it. The machine shop swore by Calico bearings. They are dry film lubricated. Might be a good idea with the kind of power you intend to put down.

Can you PM your email. I have some questions about your combo. Thanks.

where do you find these calico's? i foudn them for nissans and dsm's but havet found them for the bps yet.

Poked around and it looks like the Calicos are just coated ACLs. Where can I find them? If not the Calicos, then ACLs will probably be fine.

Why are these half the price of other places:

I used ACL bearings in the motor I built. It is my understanding from reading the ACL race bearings are the same as their tri metal ones, just 0.001" less thick.

May be cheaper to purchase the bearings already coated than to have them done. I don't remember the price, I just remember that it wasn't much more so I went with the Calicos.

The shop ordered them. Call Mesa Balancing in Hialeah, FL. Ask for Laz. He's the owner. He ordered the bearings for my build.

Hot_Wheels 05-21-2009 04:40 PM
