Best Catalytic Converter?

Well I need to buy one to put my car through emissions. Won't be staying on. What cat can I buy that will ensure (hopefully) I pass?

Thanks

JB

I searched before this, but apparently not very good. Still, post your opinions. :)

run catless, just keep a stock cat around for that week of the year you need to pass emissions, install, pass, uninstall

SlideRuler Jul 14, 2010 06:16 PM

what? He said put the stock cat back on. Any cat should work.

jbrown7815 Jul 14, 2010 06:17 PM

Lol...

I am currently running catless, I have full begi exhaust. Bought car like this so I don't have the stock cat.

I'm pretty sure my current test pipe transitions from 2.5" to 3". This is what compliates things.

Anyone have on I can rent, ha?

Abe at ARTech has a good price on a cat that is getting me through the sniff test just fine. He also did a transition on it. Would contact him.

Unless you want to run up to Scottsdale and borrow my exhaust for a day. :P

I used a barrel cat from Enthuza and it passed the sniffer at 14.2:1 somehow.

These metalcats are kickass cats.

Do research on 'em; you won't find a better full metal substrate catalytic converter with a comparable (to say nothing of more favorable) cell per inch rating for less than double the price metalcats go for.

Plenty of 'metallic' substrate cats with the same or worse cell per inch ratings, but they are not as good.

Yep, I'm in all the cat threads tonight.

I'm sure it is nice, but I will only have this on one day a year. Worth the money?

This seems like the best option.
Who gives a shit about fancy shmancy high quality high flow cats when you're only using it once a year?

get the cheapest working OEM cat you can find and use that.

SO i've been calling around getting quotes for the cat installed, best so far is about 165-175

Too much?

It does transition from 2.5" to 3", does this complicate things?
