Default billet gears needed with an ATI damper?

as above is it required to run both? this is for a race car but as far as i can gather there has never been an oil pump failure on a vehicle with a damper fitted. anyone know anything different?

there is no "set level" or "requirement" for either.
if you have the cabbage for both run both, if not run either (though opg is more important)

you haven't mentioned power level, rpm limit, etc. which is more important than everything else you mentioned.

powel level is 350bhp and the rev limit is only 7500.

i have been told the damper is more important and will stop the need for having the gears...

opg is cheaper and is what normally shatters on our cars with high rpm and lots of abuse. at ~270whp I don't really think you need the ati but that's just my .02

ATI will probably stop the need for stronger gears, but stronger gears will definitely stop the need for stronger gears. We put gears in every motor we build.

fair point. do you put the gears in a standard pump or is it worth going for a new pump built with gears?

what is the difference between the 1991.5-2000 pumps and the 2001-2005? is the later pump any better for the extra money?

I wouldn't do the ATI damper to solve the oil gear issue, however I have always lusted over the damper because these damn engines vibrate like a friggen tractor.
