Boundary Engineering billet oil pump stage 1 or stage 2?

I'm building my forged long nose 1.6. I can't decide if I should get a stage 1 "street" billet oil pump from Boundary Engineering or go with the stage 2 "street/strip VVT compatible" pump. I don't have VVT but I have an oil cooled turbo, kept my oil squirters, and might go with an oil cooler down the road but not sure. Are both pumps the same strength, just one flows more oil? Or should I get the stage 2 if it's stronger? Will the stage 2 even fit my 1.6 non VVT?

I'll be pushing ~300whp on pump gas, then bumping it up to ~430whp on ethonal once I get supporting mods. I will be running a harmonic ballancer aswell

The best option would be to buy an OEM VVT pump and install boundary gears. Boundary just uses cheap chinese sourced pumps and installs their gears. There was another discussion about their pumps and at this point I'm not sure if they offer 2 or 3 different thickness gear rotor pumps. The VVT has 10mm thick gears and the non-vvt & 1.6 use 9.5mm. You should use a pump with the 10mm thick gears.

OEM VVT PUMP

I didn't think you could swap gears in an OEM vvt oil pump. A buddy of mine did so on his bp4w motor.

I saw that. But I wanted to make sure that I could take my stock vvt oil pump off my car. Then add the billet gear and reinstall. I saw the chart for shims but my application will be for street use not track. And I only planned on running 1/2 shims. Never done anything like this before so gathering my research.

Yes, the BP gears listed above are a drop in replacement for your OEM VVT pump gears.

Heck yeah! Didn't want to have to spend the extra money if not needed. Would definitely want to know if anything is currently running stock oil pump and billet gears and how's it holding up.

Myself and plenty of others are running the combo currently. Rock on with it :dealwithit:
