BP 1 vs BP 2 Blocks

Hi,
I have some BP blocks which I am trying to work out what they are from, and what the differences are. Markings are BP 1 and BP 2. Anyone know?
Thanks

I believe these were identifying numbers for the foundry tooling. Helps to problem solve later down the mfg line if any casting related problems would arise.

At the risk of answering my own question, just in case anyone has the same question in the future, I finally got a chance to have a proper look at the blocks on hand.

The only difference I could find is that the BP-1 block I have has the external gallery plugs (see pic). I think it's a BP05. The BP-2 blocks don't have the plugs, and seem identical. The BP-2 blocks are BP4W and BP6D blocks.

The 2001+ blocks have a larger thrust bearing.

Is this where people tap and thread in a oil pressure / temperature sensor without using adapters?
And why it only works on the bp05?

Yes, that’s where you get oil and coolant. You can tap later blocks for oil pressure if it’s out and fully disassembled, but honestly there’s better locations to get oil from. Long term, I don’t really like the idea of having an oil line in the oven between the manifold/downpipe/block.
