Cam gear dowel pushed in to far

So, I bought a new cylinder knowing this was an issue. But, still worth it.

That said - anyone know a good way to pull the dowel pins out? I tried grabbing onto them with vice grips, but no luck. It kind of just flattened the tip of it.

Drill out the center? Unsure how "press fit" these things are.

they arent that tight. if you havent messed it up too bad, vice grips might still work. I sacrificed a pair and ground them a bit, so that the very front of the jaws came to a nice chisel point. Clamp, twist pull. Heating the end of he cam might help. torch it to about 250-300F.

Drillable yes, but not for the average backyard guy.

Nothing to really photograph, though I can grab one this weekend. One of them is pretty bad. The other can definitely still be grabbed. Slimmer vice grips would definitely help. Will try getting it nice and toasty.

No, not slim vice trips. Quite the opposite. You need a big beautiful most beefy pair. Then file the front of the jaws to make a bird beak. Make sure before you just crunch down, that only the very tips of the vice grips are grabbing, up as very close to the cam as you can.

Got it. Makes sense.

Tried the vice grip way again, but there was just too little meat exposed for them to work.

So, figured I'd try my hand at drilling them out. Filed the tip of them flat, center punched it, and started out with a super small bit. Went through it one size as a time until it collapsed on it self, and out they came.

Winning.
