Ceramic Coating downpipe / header ???
Anyone have experience with ceramic coating the downpipe or header? How does it hold up after many months of usages? (I'm referring to the real ceramic coating, not the spray paint rattle can)

I had my manifold and dp outlet both FM pieces coated locally. About 8-9k miles and it's still hanging in there. It flaked a little at first but now it seems to have stopped. I did it more for rust prevention than anything else.

I had the RB header on our NA coated locally. 2 1/2 years of track days and still looking good.

Highjack - Can you ceramic coat the turbo, exhaust, header, etc years later? Meaning, will Swain Tech clean it up and coat it for you? Or is that a waste of time/$ and will not last.

I had mine done by a local place for $380 when the parts were all brand new. Really happy with how they turned out and I am amazed by how much they reduce underhood temperature especially the radiant heat that feels like a toaster oven. I don't even feel that guilty about not running a heatshield.

I had the downpipe on my VW GTI ceramic coated by a local shop several years ago.
The coating still looks brand new after a quick buff. Im not sure how effective it is at heat retention, but it sure is durable as its seen over 100K+ miles and looks perfect. I just sent out my brand new RB header and midpipe for my miata to get coated by the same shop last week. |

Find a local shop and give them a call, but you should be fine. |
