What Clutch Types (Brands) are you using?
What are the best for long milages? it should not go bad after a few miles.

I have a policy against bashing noobs from foreign countries, but you are really pushing it.

Act clutches are ftw.

Why, i just want to know what types are proven, without to spent many Euros for junk.
It can not every human on this wolrd be a fanatic mechanic who knowing all.. like you.

You must understand that I taught myself the ins and outs of this car by SEARCHING through forums just like this, and not asking the masses about every little question that I had. Do you think that we've never discussed clutches before on this forum?

Imagine you are invited to watch a card game. Poker, for instance. You're invited to play in your own small game of poker, and you have a huge rulebook and strategy guide available to you. It's a little daunting, but all the information is in there, and there's even a glossary to help you find some of the basic stuff. You also have the option of watching the best players in the game as they work out new strategies and improve both the game and their own play.

Are you going to sit down at that table and ask that they stop and teach you how to play? Are you really surprised that they get pissed off? They wrote the rulebook and strategy guide, they opened their gameplay up for your own observation, and you still want them to simply tell you?

It seems foreign to new members, but to those of us who have been around the block, it's frustrating and insulting.

If you've gotten this far, you deserve this info:
-The best clutch you can buy is an ACT, hands down
-The new FM Stage 1 and Stage 2 clutches are getting good reviews
-SPEC Stage 2s are absolute crap
-Clutchnet is hit or miss, there's a long thread about Braineack having some major issues with his

The FM Happy Meal setups are great. I have the FM Level 1 and it feels like stock and holds great with the mods I have.

i ran an ACT HD/organic combo for quite a while and loved it... until i overpowered it and it started slipping.

i swapped the disc out for a spec 3+... it held awesome, but within 3k miles it had eaten away at my flywheel and pressure plate to the point where they can't be reused. it was still holding power and driving just fine like this, i'd never have noticed if i hadn't pulled the trans.

Didn't install my clutch but P/O told me it has an ACT organic disk with XT pressure plate.

Best clutch I've ever used, it's amazing. Slips and is very well mannered but grabs HARD. Pedal is rather stiff but I prefer firm pedals. After my first couple hours driving the car I forgot about the pedal effort.

As for the original poster savington is right but your thread at least is well presented i suggest you take the suggestions you have and run with them doing your own further research. So that in the end you will be a knowledgable consumer happy with there product.

As a no english speaking person is it not very funny to search in a english forum like this, there are to many technical english than i understand, so it is very hard to find useful answers, maybe you can go on a german forum and search for something, you will see... 10000 hits an no result that match.

That is the reason why "noobs" asking.. and remember you was also a noob at the beginning.

Get the flywheel weight-ring machined down and balanced instead of buying a lightweight unit.

A Friend of me just installed a ACT Xtreme (Stage 2) on a lightet 1.8 Flywheel he has the FM Stage 2 Kit installed, i have currently the Stock 1.6er Clutch on and it slips after a few "Miles" with Setup see signature (but i dont know how much horses (ponys) are under the hood.

I think i will try the FM Stage 2 Clutch Kit, becouse FM has the most feedback an knowledge about Turbo Miatas.

wil work for you as will a act hd. No need to spend the money on a XT as your little 15g will not meat the potential of that clutch. The FM offering will be aproximatly 300 dollars plus international shipping where as the clutch i linked is local and only 140 euros. Wich is still a markup from what we see in the US market but quite affordable in my book. If you speak german plenty of us can help you in that language as well. And we might have some that speak other languages, french etc. Shrieb mir mall diene fragen wen die her kommen. Bis spater :magna:

Get an ACT Xtreme and never look back.

These are made for both 1.6L and 1.8L flywheels...and hold up to a LOT of abuse.

DO put good bearings in there when swapping (pilot and throwout).
DO be ready to replace clutch slave cylinder and possibly clutch master cylinder as the slightly higher ACT pressure plate resistance will put some strain on old rubber seals.


This clutch engages EXACTLY like an OEM clutch...at the price of slightly higher pedal effort.

To me this is better than an OEM faggy-soft pedal with a light-switch engagement 6 puck disc.
