Compression test help! (can't reach cas plug)
 

Trying to run a compression test, I have the plugs all out and the fuel relay pulled, trying to unplug the cas and I can't get my fat meatmallet hands back there.

It's a 99 miata, and it looks like there's two plugs on the cas. Do I need to unplug both? Can Iunplug them elsewhere? Is there a different fuse/relay iI can pull instead?

The cas is on the front of the valve cover. I am guessing you meant to say coils?

The cas is on the front in an nb? I want to stop power from going to the coils, yes, but I've heard disconnecting the cas will stop power from going to the coils.

I've replaced the cas ring on an NA, but didn't know it was on the front in an nb.

Front of the valve cover, pointing at the intake cam gear (cam gear has magnets).

There is a block-off plate at the rear of the exhaust cam where the NA cas was.

Sorry, is this what you're talking about? Can anyone confirm disconnecting the cas will stop power to the coils? I'd really rather not fry my coil pack..

Yes, that's the cas. I am not sure whether unplugging it stops the coils from firing. My guess is that it should since the ecu wouldn't know when to fire them.

awesome, thanks so much. It's interesting that they moved the cas to the front on the NB. I was confused because I know it changed sides from the 1.6 to 1.8 NA miata, and thought the coil pack was the CAS.

Well, either I'm super lucky, or unplugging the cas worked. :)

In other news, it was exactly 152 on every cylinder, dry.
