Coolant Reroute Questions...
First, Please dont bash/flame/hate on me... Just a few quick questions my research hasnt answered... Ive bought the Kia Housing, The Dayco hose, Im just trying to figure out what else is nessicary to keep my heater functioning... Cant i just block off the front housing? Then, install the tstat in the back, and run the hose from the back housing to the upper radiator port? i Swear i have half a brain, and can pretty much figure stuff out for myself, just after looking at the flow diagrams, and others posts, and off the shelf kits, i just cant grasp is anything else is nessicary... please help! lol. thanks guys

if you're trying to do a traditional re-route using a spacer (what most of us are running) just go to the begi site and look at the pictures. there are LOTS of pictures and pretty much shows everything.
or search for coolant re-route. myself and MANY MANY others have made threads about this in the past. Instead of saying "don't bash me, I searched" you should ACTUALLY search and you'll find every single bit of info you need on everything from a spacer-less to a kit re-route. |

Stop lying. Its getting anoying. I can understand when people ask specifics about a question and use the "I searched" line, but you don't even know how a re-route works and you say you searched? go to "search", type in: "COOLANT RE-ROUTE". Start reading. Don't be a lazy little bitch |
Chill, Vlad. If he found the Kia neck he at least did some research.
The problem you'll run into is that the heater core feed will be replaced by the Kia neck. You can either drill/tap the head for a 3/8" port (aka "spacerless" reroute) or you can use a spacer in between the head and the water neck that will have a heater feed. It's a little tricky because you MUST feed the heater core from BEFORE the thermostat - if you feed the core post-tstat there's no coolant circulation before the car is fully warmed up. Do yourself a favor and don't reroute the car like BEGi does, with the heater returning into the upper radiator hose - the car will never warm up if you live anywhere but Texas. If you want to just buy a PnP setup, the M-Tuned reroute is probably the nicest piece out there. |

Oh well, guess we'll spoon feed then: Buy a kit, or make your own with a moss modified spacer and a few parts from the local hardware store for a fraction of the cost. Or buy the spacer from begi for 90 and piece the rest together yourself. the BEGi "race" re-route is garbage as sav said. If you search like I said (and one of the threads that will come up will be mine) you'll even find part numbers for the spacer to get from Moss, the hoses to get, and pretty much EVERY SINGLE PART required. then take pics of the finished product installed on a car (again, this can be found on the begi site) and replicate. Doing it youself will cost about 90-120 depending on your local pricing. |
wow, guys.. please... i guess im asking the wrong questions... Lets try this again... And please, dont answer me like you were beaten as a child and like to take that mental and physical pain out on others... I plan on going with the "16 dollar reroute" i have welded, drilled, and tapped the kia waterneck for stock CLT, i have the dayco hose, and will purchase the BMW 190 t-stat assembly if this will work...
Route from kia waterneck into center passage on the BMW tstat, then output from BMW unit to upper rad port via dayco hose, and the third output on BMW unit will be stepped down to heater core size, and will feed to HC left port.... right HC port goes into mixing manifold as stock... front is blocked off, and will feed future turbo endeavor? please be gentle ladies... im out of KY |
As long as the output to the heater core is before the thermostat then it should work perfectly as your said. Should work.

Its been a little since I have read up on that reroute, but yes it would work fine.

So long as that is the "hot" side of the thermostat then yes. Honestly though it should not matter, so long as the side with two ports is connected to the waterneck and the heater core, and the other side runs to the rad then you should be fine.
