Cracked downpipe at track. Tell me what I should upgrade to!

I have a FM2 turbo miata with the usual FM2 2.5" downpipe , 2.5" cat, and 2.5" silverline exhaust. The hanger broke off the exhaust at the track and as a result the downpipe cracked right after the turbo exhaust.

So...I guess it's upgrade time! What would you guys recommend? I just need it to flow well enough for a FMII turbo and also be reliable on track. I saw there were "divorced" downpipes. What's the point of those?

I also wanted to get one of these the flyin miata exhaust braces:

Are they any good?

If you are the original purchaser, call FM and get them to warranty the DP. IIRC all their goodies are lifetime warranty? I've not used the brace so I can't answer to that. Might ask FM when you call about the downpipe.

I'm a bachelor and a supercharger guy so I'll let someone else chime in about divorces and DPs :giggle:

Is this FM's newest two piece downpipe? If so, I wouldn't want to get rid of the excellent flow that cast piece offers. Albeit at a bit of a weight sacrifice. You could probably contact them nicely and get some help or suggestions from them, they've got that incredibly good customer service. Use it. It's also probably your cheapest option, as I'm guessing that cast piece didn't break.

I'm not the original purchaser, so I don't know if they will cover this under warranty.

This is the older FMII kit with the one piece downpipe. If their new cast piece flows really well I might as well go with that.

Would anyone here recommend that I go 3" with the FM 2 piece downpipe?

I've got the FM DP for the cast section available if you want something used. Where are you located?

The one on the bottom...or is that the part that you broke, not too familiar with the FM stuff.

I can tell you by first-hand expierence that FM will work with you even if you are not the original buyer of the parts.

I think the cast piece Curly is refering to is the cast turbine outlet that leads goes between the downpipe and turbo. If you cracked this I'd be surprised. As for the downpipe like the one posted above, just get the newer FM part if you want something that you know ill work and will bolt right up. That or if you have the pipe above, you should be able to get it welded up and be good to go.

This is the only cast piece that would be part of the exhaust..
