crank offset grind?
Anyone ever offset grind a crank to get more stroke, if so how much stroke were you able to add or limits did you go to?
|
Depends on what bearing sizes are available as to how far you can go. Pick a top notch crank grinder, that can properly index the crank, and get the radius correct. Be aware the pistons already stand a little proud of the deck.
I have been thinking along the same lines for my next build. I look forward to some good info on this thread, and hope it stays on topic. |
so the pistons come out of the block a tad?
stock motor |
iirc mine were .015-.020 out of the block, stock shortblock. I am also running a .035 head gasket. There is room for more stroke.

My 2 liter engine has an offset grind on the crank, with Honda Pistons and rods.
These are the pistons http://www.jepistons.com/Products/185918.aspx I'm not sure of the rods. Sadly I don't have any more details about the engine other than the rods are made by pauter. If anybody wants to, they could probably get the details from Ric Stevens in TX. |
One of the things I plan for my next B6 build is to see what the limits of the machining are for that block. I hope to start it sometime this year.

Is anyone else just absolutely floored at the cost of pistons for these motors??
We ordered a set of forged pistons couple years ago for a small block chevy build (8, to be exact) for under $500.00! |
