Custom injector seal?
 

I ordered all new seals from RC for my RC 550 injectors and the pintle caps they sent me do not fit on the bottom of the injector. The lower manifold seal loosely sits on the bottom of the injector without that, so it’s a must for a proper seal. All 4 injectors that I got have what looks to be wire shrink tube wrapped around where a pintle cap would go and underneath one there was an adhesive that I had to clean off when I removed it. This setup came off a perfectly good, running car that made a little over 300whp. I literally cannot find one single pic on the interwebs of how an RC injector with Miata pintle cap is supposed to look, so I’m wondering does this look acceptable/useable? And if so should I just leave the other 3 “custom pintle caps” on the injectors and make a 4th one to replace what I took off or what? The factory pintle caps have a teeny tiny hole much smaller than the hole on the RC injector, so if I got those would I have to modify them? Thanks for any advice.

I’ve never removed or installed injectors in a miata so I’m not really sure like what the pintle caps purpose is, how big or small it’s supposed to be and what it’s function is. I know that the bigger, lumpy black seal is what seals the injector against the manifold, so I really don’t see what use a pintle cap is other than giving the lower manifold seal something to seal against on the inside.
