i remember seeing a picture somewhere on here where someone replaced the mixing manifold with a water neck...

can someone please tell me what part they used. was is the stock water neck?

all i want to know is what part is thaton the bottom of the block so that i can point the hose straight forward.

That picture is of a reverse-flow cooling system using an electric pump. The coolant goes in the head at both back and front, and comes out at the bottom of the block.

You can fit a stock water outlet on that position, being aware of course that different ones have the outlet at different angles. The one pictured is not from a Miata (judging by the placement of the CLT sensor thread) however I imagine that you could find out by asking in the thread in which this is being discussed.

pretty much any mazda housing will work. BEGi sells something similar as well.

what size fitting is needed to source the water from the block above the oil supply?
