Default Do the CXRacing fans suck?

Or rather, NOT suck? Ever since I put in my CXRacing radiator/fans/shroud, my car has been overheating. I put a bottle of water wetter in it and I haven't had an issue yet, but it also hasn't been as warm as it was before I put it in.

Are the fans complete crap? I wasn't having any problems with the stock radiator except on hot days (90+) while having the A/C on. The radiator has to be an improvement, so all I can think of is the fans. I thought it might have been from the gap between the radiator and frame, but it overheats in stop and go traffic where ducting would be ineffective anyway.

I have V mount intercooler and A/C, racing beat sway and a crappy bra that doesn't help either. What slim fans does everyone use? I haven't tested the stock fans, but I'm pretty sure my IC piping would be pushed into my belts (it barely fit on stock) if I put them on and I hear they hit the sway bar.

Anyone else have this problem or have ideas of other things to check?

Does it overheat when you're driving or when you're stuck in traffic?

how did you wire them in? I have fans from silicone intakes and haven't hooked them up yet.

TrickerZ for reference I have a Godspeed radiator and a single cheap ebay fan with no shrouding and I have spent over an hour sitting in blocked up traffic in Charleston in July with no overheating.

I am going to shoot you a pm this summer when I am down in Charleston. I want to check out your setup.

Burp your coolant system.

Does your car make coffee maker sounds after you turn it off?

Bryce, like a cement mixer? Yeah, is that the water pump? Am I just retarded and have no idea how to install a radiator, cuz all I did was drain, detach the old and pull it out, put the new one in and fill it, run the car, fill it some more.

Note: It did make that sound prior to the new radiator. Figured the OP was going since it has a wobbly crank pulley and 200k miles, about 80-90k boosted.

If it gurgles after shutoff, could be your radiator cap no longer holding a seal. I had this happen to me. A new radiator cap fixed it. Like the others have said though, removing air bubbles from the system can help too.

Nah, it sounds like a cement mixer all the time, even when cold. Sounds more like metal than bubbles.

hustler - it overheats at speed or in traffic. Usually cools down at idle if I remember. If I turn the A/C on, it's a definite overheat. It was cool and raining and I turned the A/C on to defog the windows and it overheated.

Fans are powered and spinning (though I should probably check which direction...that would be funny). They sound like a jet engine.

When you bleed the coolant system do you have the front lifted as high as you can?

It was parked in my driveway at whatever incline that is and I may have had a jack under it as well. This was several months ago, so my memory is a little hazy.

Well you live in Charleston, so I would be willing to bet your driveway is pretty flat. I would try burping the system again with the front of the car jacked up. Also make sure the fans are actually pulling air through.

Is there anything I need to know about burping it? Just bring up to temp and top off? Do I need to remove the radiator cap beforehand?

I would have the radiator cap off the whole time while burping the system.

I just got back from checking it out. It looks like the fans were reversed (hard to tell from that angle). I swapped the wires and will see if it works. Who would have thought black doesn't go to black...I didn't even think to check them when I installed them since it seemed so obvious. I'll probably still burp my system anyway since I didn't do that and it sounds like a good idea nonetheless. I have a long trip tomorrow up to VA, so if I turn on my A/C and it doesn't overheat, I'll consider it good.
