Does all of this seem legit?

This guys interested in trading ofr my drz sm. I was just wondering if all the numbers check out he says 72% duty cycle at 7psi 216 whp. was wondering if everything in his ad sounded right. NEVER DEALT with this stuff b4 but looks like a lot of fun. Also any thoughts on what this set up could run if set just all out. THANKS 1991 Mazda Turbo Miata Hardtop

Looks like a good setup. Is it intercooled?

Having a megasquirt is a good sign.

Eh, It's ok. Small, oil cooled turbo, with a less than ideal top mount manifold.

I call BS on 216hp. I have a barely larger turbo, better manifold, and I'm sure a better exhaust. Same ECU, same injectors. I ran 193hp at 12psi. Maybe he's running more now.

Sounds really quiet. Possibly stock exhaust? Plan on upgrading that plus the downpipe, which is tiny out of the greddy kit. Matches up with the stock exhaust which is nice, but chokes power pretty good anywhere north of 5psi in that turbo.

Start stamping your return envelopes now or you'll never catch up.

16g's aren't exactly the same beast as your turbo though, Curly.

Another guy reported ~200rwhp by 8psi on a 16g, so he's in the range at least.

i didnt know newbs could haze people... isnt the definition of hazing giving shit to new people

curly 04-09-2013 11:54 PM

I was under the impression that the greedy turbo was barely smaller than my sr20 t25. If he says its a 16g, I'd believe he was ignorant to what turbo he has before believing he hacked together a greddy/16g setup.

I think you are confused, brobro

TD05-16g greddy turbo kit??? - MX-5 Miata Forum

curly 04-10-2013 12:06 AM

Ah, only seen them called td04s. Still pretty sure they're smaller than mine.

blaen99 04-10-2013 12:08 AM

With that said, there were only a very small number of those kits imported into the US, but YMMV.

I'm doing the math a little backwards here according to how the calculator works, the above looks like this:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1365572851
Calculator comes out 2% difference, looks close enough for government work.

But keep in mind... assuming 30hp drivetrain loss (generally accepted as accurate for the Miata) 216 WHEEL hp = 246hp at the engine. That will look something like this:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1365572851
To make 246hp your 460cc injectors are running around 84% DC.

Take this with a grain of salt, its an online calculator.

Is it within the realm of possibility? Yes, those injectors *should* support that level of power. Will the cast Velveeta 1.6 rods and pistons hold up @ 246hp? Do some reading. Can a TD05-16g support that level of power? I have no idea.

On another note, you really REALLY need to learn how to do this kind of shit for yourself. I've given you some examples, hopefully you can figure the rest out on your own. Now stop being a fucking n00b and go make an intro thread.

Most sources I've read quote .55 BSFC, not .60 BFSC for a Turbo Miata, EO2k. Even the big FAQ states .55.

https://www.miataturbo.net/engine-pe...in-loss-37110/

Brainy's also pretty clear about a lower drivetrain loss figure as well. TL;DR: His numbers are well within the realm of possibility.

Ive been drinking, I just picked one
