early block in a 99 never been done

i have a 99 with a spun rod bearing
in the past i have used a kia bp 1.8 long block as a cheap swap in my 96.
i can get them near me for $200 with low miles

I understand there are a few changes to the motor from 96 to 99 mostly to the head....but i cant find any info on making it work...seems everone else just buys a 99 long block replacement for $1000 witch is crazy i think. i understand the 99 has a 9.5 compresion ratio and the 97 has 9.0 but i dont care about that as i will be boosting it anyway..and here is my plan to make it work.

so here is my plan

97 long block from a kia (inclusing oil pump and water pump)
99 oil pan
97 intake manifold and fuel rail
99 throttle body
99 injectors
99 cam gears ( has the trigger for the cam sensor)
99 valve cover (has whole for cam gear sensor)
99 coolant neck and mixing manifold
all 99 sensors and electronics

this should work right
\something im missing?
only thing i can see is that the cam gear from a 99 on a 97 cam mess up the timing?? should i just use the whole 99 cam in the 97? would i need to use the solid lifters for the increased lift? i would like to just be able to change the gear as i want to put the 99 head and cams on my turbo 1990

Not sure if you're joking or really did miss like five billion threads where people did this.

*edit: just noticed the -77 props, probably really that lazy and stupid. oh well

The 99 head from your dead motor will fit fine on the kia block. I would have a competent machine shop check out the head to make sure there are no issues though from the spun bearing.

Basically everything that bolts to the 99 head will be moved over to the new kia block. You will also most likely have to move over the 4tooth trigger wheel to the new bottom end along with the correct front crank boss.

If using the oil pump from the older engine...ensure it has the provisions for CAS sensor before install as tapping hole and grinding it level is a PITA after.

All threads i found where for putting a 99 motor in a NA car or for putting a 99 head on a NA motor.
I don't see that anyone has put the older motor in the new car and used the 99 electronics if you know somewhere i can read about this or have any actual exsperance please post a link if not please keep your negative comments to yourself

I am going to use the 99 head on another build to put into my turbo 90.....i want to get the 99 up and running with the factory 97 motor and that will be supercharged later with a mp62 i have sitting in the garage.

so far i see i will need to use the 99 cam gear, 99 vc, and 99 tb, and the crank sensors from the 99. and use the 97 manifold and fuel rail.
