Hmmm ... I was going to use aeroquip -5an tube nut/sleeves (since it's thousandths from being true 8mm) and Earls -5an to -6an fitting. Flared of course.

It sounded like you were going for a flare-less tube to AN adapter, like the one earls sells, which uses and olive that slides over the outside of the tube. That one doesnt work. And right, its 8mm not 6.

Ya, I was avoiding any fitting that was a compression style with an olive (which is what it sounds like) since they're usually rated for 50 psi or less. At least with the flare I know the hose won't pull out, though I am concerned getting a good seal using my shitty summit flare tool.

Never heard the term 'olive' used referring to a compression fitting... Is that the same thing as a ferrule? (OK, I looked it up... They both refer to the same part. 'Olive' is used in the UK, ferrule in the US.)

Anyways, common compression fittings with ferrules are used all the time with 100psi+ systems like the air brakes on tractor trailers. High quality compression fittings with the proper tubing are available to handle pressures of many 1000's of psi. Fab9tuning.com sells compression fittings specifically to adapt Miata hard fuel lines to AN. Assuming they are quality parts, I can't see any reason why they would be dangerous at <100psi in a fuel system.

Flaring the tubing is another option, but done improperly or with incompatible tubing material the cutting/flaring process can work harden the tubing, leading to cracks/leaks. Nothing is completely fool proof...

The fittings fab9 sells are specifically rated to 50psi by the manufacturer. And are listed as 3/8 fittings which would suck.

I did qualify my mention of the Fab9 adapters with "assuming that they are quality parts"... So, where is a good source for good/adequately rated hard line to AN adapters (compression style)? A little digging or call to a hydraulic hose/supply store should turn something up.

The style of fittings they sell are rated to 50psi. You need something else. I've seen some swagelok fittings that are rated way higher, but haven't found a dealer.

Late to the game ...yes, I did (I think).

I ended up cutting the OEM lines and flaring. I used the fittings I posted above, which are just standard AN hardline bits. Seems to have worked fine, but I've yet to pressure test it.
