End Play/Thrust washers
Okay so I got my engine all back together, and everything seemed fine, but my shaft end play is close to 1/4 inch. I can't figure out why. This is my odd question. When I tok the engine apart it only had two (2) thrust washer on the crank with no end play. I put two new ones in with the same spec, checked the end play before continuing, and put the engine back together. WTF!!!!!:vash: So now I'm back at square one removing the engine, but also looking for advice on what might have gone wrong?

Have you pulled the oil pan to see if the new ones fell out?
Nearly 1/4" is no good.. Is this the end play with oil or dry? |
Yea check to see if they fell out. Tricky little buggers to get to stay. Assembly lube holds them in pretty good

make sure you used the one for the correct year also, they made a big change after 99 I thinks. This is a picture of what came out of my MSM vs what came with an ACL bearing set

^^^ Yup same thing happened with my last full bearing kit.
Is the one on the right a 1.6L or did NA 1.8's have smaller thrust washers too? |

Yep they fell out. Thank god I only drove it a little bit. No noticable wear, but I'll mice it out all the same
