I'll tell you in the morning what my machinist wants for it.
He left me a message today recommending a turn. I have a spare, so I will probably use that to avoid ruining the hardening as guttedmiata mentioned, but I'll ask anyway. |
The machinist already turned it before I could look at it, which I'm not too happy about.
Anyway, it came out to $120. |

No problem.
It also included cleaning and straightening FYI. |
I bought King bearings... Did I make a mistake?
Daily driver, 330hp goal. |

Daily driver, 330hp goal. ACL Race I know work flawlessly for High HP and RPM. |
I'm 100% with Bob on this.
I'd say he and I have abused bearings as much or more than anyone...and I don't think either one of us would put anything other than ACLs in our motors if given the choice. I would recommend spending the extra few bucks and send them to Calico to be coated. |
maybe a stupid post (once again) and in wrong topic, but is that standard that the middle (3rd) main journal on the crank does not have an oil port hole ? It is out of a BPZE block.
and other question, I have the crank main and pin journals measured and it comes out as follow: main: 1 - 49.934 2 - 49.935 3 - 49.932 4 - 49.934 5 - 49.938 All of which except nr. 5 is out of range by a very little, I believe bottom limit for BPZE is 49.938. Should I be worried about this little difference ? I guess a little extra room for thick oil is only a good thing with 8500RPM screamer isnīt it ? I am looking for about 0.045mm oil clearance for main bearings and 0.054mm for rod bearing Also pins diameter: 1 - 44.935 2 - 44.933 3 - 44.933 4 - 44.938 limit there should be 44.940 and again I am under that by a hair. I plan to use King XP series bearings. |
Anyone? I am mostly interested in this missing oil way on 3rd journal.

google search a picture of a 1.8 crank?
