Engine Build, Which Camshafts?
 
I'm doing a rebuild on my 1.6 engine in the next week or 2 and have a few options of factory cams, and I could use some opinions on what would be best to use.

I'm doing a budget build with b6t connecting rods and new automatic 9.1 compression pistons. the stock b6 I have in the car runs good and is good on compression but burns a considerable amount of oil. I Recently swapped to a b6t exhaust cam from a mercury capri turbo into it and I dont feel it pull as hard on the butt dyno after the swap. I'm thinking of going back to the standard b6 manual trans cams when I do the rebuild.

I have access to b6 auto cams, b6 Manual cams, and a b6t exhaust cam. Should I just stick with the manual b6 cams as they felt the best in my opinion?

Find out the size/durations of each cam, generallly the biggest would be around the 240* mark I guess, that would be your best bet. I have 255* ground stock cams and its noticeably faster than a stock engine.

But then again, if you start going aftermarket/custom cams, you'd preferably want an EMS or some way of adding more fuel.

Find a 1.6 head on a flow bench posted on line. Give that, the max lift your springs can handle, and the power band you want, along with whatever other info the guy asks for to a company that welds and re-grinds cams, along with a set up stock cams from the junk yard. Pay him the monies, laugh at all the people on off the shelf cams for spending about the same money you did and not getting nearly as good of a setup..
