Engine build questions

I'm working on a 1.6 build, yeah I know. My intention was always a fun daily 200-250 hp range. I picked up parts for a turbo build over the last few years and took the dive in. In my search for parts I ran across a built 1.6 for really cheap. I jumped on it, yes it was that cheap. Built, but never put in. Went ahead and disassembled it to see if it had everything done to it the guy said. Forged rods arp studs, remanned head, new oil pump ect. . . one thing he didn't do was put forged pistons in. He sent them out to get cleaned, new rings. ect. I was about to start assembly and thought I would get some outside opinions. Is it worth it to put forged pistons in?

Please keep in mind my goals are not crazy, just a fun daily. 200-250 hp. That being said how much can the stock pistons on a 1.6 hold up and is it worth it to put forged in? Everything else is new, but stock. Other while your in there opinions would be great. I'm under $700 with this motor, and I know it's a 1.6 so I'm not willing to drop too much money in it. Just didn't know how much the stock pistons can hold. I'm on the lines of running the stock pistons because I'm going to be under 300hp. . . . Correct thinking ? or should I rethink.

will be a 2560 pushing it. I'll be working out the details on my turbo with the current stock motor, then dropping this in once I learn a bit more with tuning.

I've learned alot on this site, so thanks!

If you don't suck at tuning you can do 250 just fine on stock pistons.

Don't buy forged 1.6 pistons. If you're going to go to the effort of boring/honing something for pistons, make it a 1.8 block.

Thanks, this is what I was thinking. I do suck at tuning.

How much should I be able to push a 1.6 with rods only, safe tune?

242whp plus or minus 6.432whp.

Stock pistons with a good tune should be good to somewhere around 350whp. If you get knock though you can easily crack a ring land.
