That's a USDM only thing for later model MK1's, and is only used for misfire detection, the primary CPK signal still comes from the CAS.

My priorities are where the money is

My heart is with you gayz and my miata

BTW: Gordon did a baller job packaging this cam. Holy cow, I don't think it could have gotten damaged if it was shot out of a cannon.

Kinda.

Another "I know what I'm doing, cause this wrx is totally like a 240sx, so I'm gonna hack up the car like a moron with all of my moron 16 year old buddies, half assedly slap on a ton of parts none of which I put any thought into when putting together the setup, then take it to the tuner and expect my 1000000x mechanical and electrical problems to be TUNED AWAY"

seriously. cheaper/older subaru's are starting to suffer the same fate as cheaper miata's: herrad0r1ft kids are destroying them.

PS: it was really amusing to prime the fuel system and see a fountain of fuel spring up from the engine because of their wonderful injector install

And there's a lot less WRX's and 2.5RS's in good condition than there are miatas. Finding any rust free ish 2.5RS hacked to **** or not is becoming impossible.

Pfft. Stop your bitching. You can totally do some pulls on the dyno with a gas fire in progress. Just be sure to blow on the flames while doing the pull, then grab an open gas can and run around with it at the end.

Not to hijack this thread, but what are some of the most grevious things done to these subies? I have a friend who has a shop down the road from me that builds and fabs race cars (mostly subaru) and most of what I have seen seemed pretty solid because he is at the point where he will turn down work that is half done or fubar.

Obviously in the case you mention above, the injectors weren't installed correctly (tight enough?) What else?

After packing it I was more afraid of it getting damaged trying to remove it from the tube than anything UPS could dish out. Glad it made it without incident, I'm just hoping it helps!

Oh there are plenty that are clean. Most of the guys that come to me have some seriously immaculate subaru's. I also turn down the uber hack jobs. This one kinda slipped through I guess.

his injector o-rings were pinched
his fmic piping is not secured
there is oil and coolant everywhere from him replacing parts
it is slammed to the point that his axles are actually grinding away at the frame rails
car's been wrecked repeatedly, bondo'd, repainted, and paint is already peeling in various spots
all the clips/connectors on the engine are held together by zip ties because he snapped the clips removing them
its got all sorts of crazy neon colors like bright green rims, fmic piping, the fmic is painted smurf green, etc
his primary o2 sensor was mangled, he taped the wiring back together with electrical tape didn't even bother soldering

I could go on.....

I did. I didn't tune it. Just got it to start/idle/drive normal in cruise with the ID1000's and e85, and sent him away with a list of crap that needs to be addressed before we start making power.

On the bright side, cars like that make me appreciate my subaru and miata so much more. I look at the quality of work done to them, and I feel good about myself

Then you open Jeffbucc's build thread.

Seriously though, you do very clean work. Seems like the cam will solve your issue, and I hope it does. In for results, I except to see a video of it running by 8pm tonight.

Ok, so I totally feel his pain with the stupid connector clips. I hate those things more than almost anything else on my car.

The herrafrushness is unforgivable. I have a friend with a bmw 330 who wants to lower it because she "likes the looks more". She told me about this not 5 minutes after telling me she was currently car shopping because of all the issues she's been having with the car (mostly electrical). After I told her how much she could expect to pay for a cheap, crappy lowering job, vs how much she would pay if she wanted it done right, she decided she'd rather not.

nope. I'm at a loss. it has fuel, it has spark, it has good compression (did compression test), everything mechanically is flawless. Literally everything.
