Default Supertech Pistons + Rings = $370.88 = Good Deal?

Looking around online looks like a company called Speed agency is selling each piston for $76.71 and rings for $16.01. Total cost would be $370.88. That's almost $70 less than most places. Anyone had any experience with them?

Supertech is near me in San Jose BTW.
I'm trying to convince the No Limit guys (in NY) to convince Supertech to drop ship em to me. Waiting 2 weeks to ship to NY then back to CA is silly.

You may want to tell em the same thing.

BTW I want the 83.5mm 8.6:1 pistons.

I called Supertech and for $20 more I have the privilege of driving over and picking up the pistons directly LOL.

That's awesome. What's the number for Supertech?
Where are you located JasonC?
I'm looking for 84mm 8.6:1 pistons.

And the group buy for m-tuned rods is still good.
That's less than $700 for new rods and pistons.

<checks dialed numbers> 408 448 2001

I live about 5 miles from them lol.

I thought you could only get 8.6:1 in 83.5 mm.

check out part number P4-MA84-N4 (from speed agency website)

Info from website:

Bore 84.00mm
Comp Height 1.201" (30.5mm)
Comp Ratio 8.6:1
Dome/Dish Vol -4cc
Gram Weight 296g
Head CCs 50
Oversized 1mm+
Pin Dia 20mm (.787")
Skirt Round
Notes Piston
For Turbo/Nitrous Applications
For use with Piston Ring GNH8400
Vehicle Notes Gasket + Deck Height: 0.060"

P4-MA84-CR9 is from belfabs website showing 9.0:1 which is not much of a difference.

I figured 1mm over shouldn't make the walls too thin.

Depends how soon you wanna get your pistons.
You live in 408 so it's convenient for you either way.
I live in 415 so it's about 45 mins each way for me. So I'm kinda leaning towards the group buy shipped. Don't think the machine shop even started on my block yet anyway.

9.0 vs 8.6 is a pretty significant difference in terms of detonation resistance.
On 91 CA craptane I'd go with 8.6 for a turbo app. Much more forgiving.

If we get em from the GB folks in NY we should convince em to get Supertech to drop ship em to us in CA to so it'll take 1-2 days instead of 2 weeks.

railz
call up Supertech and check if the pistons you want are in stock.
If we both show up at the same time with cash in hand they oughtta match the group buy price (which is only $20 lower).

If you show up in person to pick up the pistons would you have to pay sales tax?

I asked on the phone and they kinda said no.
Either that or the +$20 price includes it.
They're 5 miles away so it's worth a try for me lol.

Just ordered the M-tuned rods and Supertech pistons. $310 and $368.40 shipped. $678.40 for the combo. Some people try to sell their used parts for that price.

It's $10 more to have them drop ship from supertech, but it takes them a few days to ship. He said it's only a few days difference and I'm in no hurry so I'll save the $10 for a double cheese burger n large fries from McDonalds.
