FlowForce 960 Install Results

I wanted to give some initial feedback on FlowForce’s 960cc injectors, which I installed this past weekend. My ride is a naturally aspirated ’00 with a BP6D, and I was running the ’00 injectors.

Nigel stated that the dead times for these injectors are pretty close to his 640cc injectors, so I started with the dead times that TSE has listed:
  • 1.12ms @ 13.2v
  • 140.3% @ 11v
  • 120.9% @ 12v
  • 102.9% @ 13v
  • 90.4% @ 14v
  • 80.7% @ 15v
  • 73.8% @ 16v
While I got her started with these dead times, she died within moments. As I continued to crank, my voltage dropped, so I replaced 140.2% @ 11v with 230.0% @ 9v, which allowed her to start right up. However, she wouldn’t run long with these settings and was really lean. I nearly doubled my Idle VE Table values to get it near stoich, but she was still dying. At that point I played around with the dead times and settled on raising them by 4.1 percentage points, landing at the following:
  • 1.12ms @ 13.2v
  • 230.0% @ 9v
  • 125.0% @ 12v
  • 107.0% @ 13v
  • 94.5% @ 14v
  • 84.8% @ 15v
  • 77.9% @ 16v
She idled decently at this point, but was lean over my entire map. I raised my entire fuel table by roughly 20% and she's now drivable, but still a little lean in places. Since I’m still a tuning n00b, I contacted VladiTuned to help get me dialed in. I will report back the final settings after Vlad applies rainbows and unicorns to my tune.

Nigels numbers are spot on.

What this means is that your old dead times were not spot on, and your tune has been affected at the small end by this.
Dead times let the ecu know how long the injectors take to react, which changes how long the ecu requests fuel for. If it needs 4ms of opening time to fuel the car this squirt a 1ms deadtimes makes the actual output run for 5ms. If they are off your fuel table will have to be off in the opposite direction to compensate, which is what you had with old oem injectors, 50/50 accurate dead times on them and your old tune.

It's ok, just run Nigel (the ones on TSE) numbers and then retune your fuel around idle and check the fuel elsewhere while you are at it.

Dann,

Thanks for the reply. These Nigel's new 960cc injectors, not the 640cc ones. I don't think there's a consensus on what the dead times for these should be yet, which is why I wanted to post initial feedback. I'm not saying my numbers are the answer, but they are a starting point. Vlad is helping me with the tune so I'll update as to what we eventually settle on.

You're right I skimmed the heading, If they don;t have listed perfect dead times yet you will need to retune fuel around idle for now and make do.

Excellent start Bryan.
Sorry I've been lagging lately, absolutely swamped with tunes/cars. Map soon

Email sent. I don't think the 230 @ 9v is really helping you but I'd like to see that log you mentioned before I update the dead times in this map

Alright so we’re nearly done dialing these in on pump. They don’t like pump gas very much, but triggering 14.0@idle seems to keep them happy and smooth. Ill post more results when near a computer
