Ok, I had a PM from Savington saved from like, forever ago where he showed me the pieces he used to make his oil cooler kit. I'm finishing this car off so it's ready for Miatas @ MRLS at Laguna Seca. I wanted to get a look-over of these parts from you guys to make sure I order everything I need..
The oil cooler: TRU-Cool Oil Coolers - TRU-Cool 24 Row Racing Oil Cooler
Sandwich plate w/ thermostat: Sandwich Plate - Mocal Sandwich Plate- 20mm Thread
1/2" to -10 AN (I need 4 of these total right? 2 on the sandwich plate and 2 in the oil cooler?) come in pairs so x 2: - Mocal 1/2" BSP x -10 fitting
Socketless fitting x 4: Socketless Fittings - Aeroquip Straight Socketless Fitting
-10 AN Socketless hose 1ft x 10: Aeroquip Socketless Hose - -10 Aeroquip Socketless Hose, Blue

Do I have quantities right for the 1/2" to -10 fitting and all? Will the straight socketless fittings work or do I need to spring for the more expensive ones that do a 90* turn?
Total (If I have it all right) is $236 and flat rate shipping is $8.85 - pretty damn good for what I think is a high end cooler setup with a nice size cooler..

FYI, the NPT to -10AN fittings I use at my Mocal adapter aren't correct. They are 1/2 BSP. It works, but if I don't get mine tighened perfectly, it leaks. Get the BSP O-ringed fittings that RPW sells. The price is pretty good - I think I ended up $250 into mine before I switched to an Rx7 core and stainless braided hose. If you want to spend more money, the two places to upgrade are the core and the lines.

Ok, I believe that the 1/2" BSP to -10 AN fittings I linked to are the ones you're referring to - on the page with the sandwich adapter they do actually say that NPT fittings don't fit perfectly and may leak and to use the BSP ones, so that's what I was planning.

My question is, do I get 4 of those BSP fittings - two for the sandwich plate and two more for the core? Or is the core NPT threading and I need to find a 1/2" NPT to -10 AN fitting instead?

As to the lines, did you ever have any problems with them? I understand that braided is always just better, but as to the "If you want to spend more money" - I don't. Not if I can get a reliable and effective setup with less $$.

Do you consider a certain whp level to be the ceiling for this core or did you just switch to the RX7 when you went on to the more extreme setup in anticipation of greater cooling needs?

Mocal plate needs the BSP fittings, 2 of them. As for the oil cooler, i did not look at the one linked in the OP but you will need whatever fittings those are.

For example, my oil cooler uses a 90* -10AN fitting, male on both ends. From there you choose what kind of hose you want and connect the pieces.
