Friction in cylinder walls ok?
Putting my 99 engine together. Put the crank in and rod/piston assemblies and turned the crank. It sounds a bit like rubbing, but turns okay. Ive read mixed things. Some say with a new bore/hone and new piston rings there is bound to be friction and its completely normal. Others say it should always be smooth no matter what. What do you guys think? Hopefully you can hear it in the video.
the finish hone is done with about a 200 grit finish. thats not too smooth on steel. now rub another piece of metal across it. it will make noise. What you hear, is totally normal.
