Default Front Main Seal Disaster

Looks like my FMS folded over on it self while using the FM tool. Has this happened to anyone before?!

What can I do to prevent this from happening agian?

Make sure you lubricate the crank and seal before you slide the seal over the crank and drive it home. A bit of engine oil, assembly lube or wheel bearing grease will do the trick. You should not put it on dry. Same for your cam seals if you changed them.

You still have to put it on correctly before using the FM tool. All the tool does is drive it straight and to the correct depth into the oil pump bore, it does nothing to install the seal on the crank correctly.

I get it over the lip by hand and then tap it into place.

I followed the same process as last time, just added more lube. Seemed to work!

Always use more lube. If you think you have enough, add a bit more.
