fuel rail install

I am getting things together to install an M-Tuned fuel rail on a 2000 using AN fittings. I believe I have identified what is needed but would like others opinions. Here is my shopping list:

-6AN hose, 10'
2 each straight flare (-6AN to 3/8 pipe)
1 each 90* -6 swivel hose end for front of rail
1 each 45* -6 swivel hose end for rear of rail
1 each 3/8 barb to -6AN (male)
2 each straight -6 hose end
1 each -6 flare T-fitting

Am I missing anything?

a grinder to make it fit on the head.

Change your 3/8" barb to 5/16".

Thanks for the heads-up. I wasn't absolutely sure of the barb-end size for the OEM fuel line.

RotorNutFD3S Mar 16, 2009 03:06 PM

No problem. I'm in the midst of putting together my SS line list as well. :)

The port on the underside of the fuel rail has to have it's edge grinded off in order to fit the '99+ (or just '99-'00?) heads. Otherwise, it won't fit correctly. You'll see when you try to bolt it up. I just test fitted mine the other day, it's not a lot that has to be removed, and fortunately it's on the underside where no one will see it, but it has to be done all the same.

Got ya!
Thanks alot man. I was just going to be pissed. I am over working on this engine and need this F'er running..

Except for quick disconnect fittings I am having a hell of a time finding a 5/16 barb to 6AN. Do you have a source?

RotorNutFD3S Mar 16, 2009 09:07 PM

Nope, hadn't done the shopping yet. The fuel lines are definitely 5/16", but 3/8" is not technically that much larger, only 1/16", IDK about using it though.
I see that they're not out there by doing a quick search. I found a 5/16" barb to 1/4" NPT male, that would let you use a 1/4" female to 1/4" female adapter, then a 1/4" male to -6AN male. More parts to make it work with a 5/16" barb.

EvoRoadster Mar 16, 2009 09:43 PM

Yeah, I saw that also. I was hoping for elegance!

RotorNutFD3S Mar 16, 2009 09:57 PM

No such luck unless someone has a lead on the correct barb.

EvoRoadster Mar 19, 2009 03:49 PM

I can get brass 3/8NPT to 5/16 barb at my local hardware store. I want 5/16 barb to 6AN.

But, as in life, I guess we can't get everything we want.

I want M-tuned coolant reroute also!!!!!

You can make it out of 2-3 fittings if you really need it.
