Fuel regulator?
 
I'm picking up a new fuel regulator to replace my factory regulator.

Should I get this one?

What size fuel lines and pump will you be running? Would also be a good idea to get a gauge with it.

-6 lines.

Here's my plan:

-mount up a 0-100psi gauge on the FPR
-Connect one side of the rail to the factory vent line that goes back to the tank and use that as the return line.
-Connect the factory fuel feed line to the FPR inlet with -6 hose
-Connect FPR outlet to rail with -6 hose

I figured out how to do the bosch 044 in tank with a few parts but I thought that I could just hook this up first and test a bit? Pump now is walboro 255hp so with the afpr it should be able to flow more I think.

That's not how a FPR works. The FPR needs to be after the rail. It regulates the pressure by bleeding off excess pressure to its outlet port thus making the pressure in the rail whatever you set it to. The FPR outlet port is what needs to go back to the tank.

Is the stock vent hardline of sufficient diameter to serve as a return line? Never really looked at one.

The correct routing for the basic configuration you're describing would be:

Pump -> filter -> feedline -> rail -> FPR -> return line -> tank.

The stock vent return line is 5/16 in diameter. I think. Will double check in a little bit.

Don't you have a 99+ Miata? You should have a returnless system, and your FPR is in the gas tank, unless you modified it to a return type system.

I think he knows that already, which is why he's talking about using the vent line as a return line.

Also, FYI, the picture you posted is not an accurate representation of the NB fuel system. The fuel exits the tank and goes through the fuel filter, than hits a tee, where one end of the tee goes forward to the rail and the other goes back into the tank and then into the FPR.

So if the feed out of the tank goes to the filter then a t all he would have to do is take his dual feed rail take one side and run it back to that t and feed it back to the tank with the new regulator mounted in the engine bay somewhere. This would save the hassle of removing the tank and it allows you to bypass the stock FPR with out having to remove it. Correct?
