Gasket kits

Hey guys, kinda in a pickle with my motor build and needing to get a gasket kit for my 1.8.

The block is a 94 1.8 with a 99 BP-4W head and the JDM/Euro Flat Top plenum.
After looking at part numbers, I've found that the cam seals are different on the VVT BP-5A head, but looking on Rosenthol Mazda's OEM Gasket kits I have no idea what intake plenum gasket I need, I think the VICS manifold is the same but I'm not sure :(

With so many different parts, is it possible to get a full gasket kit or will I have to order them all separately?

When you say "intake plenum gasket" are you talking about the upper to lower gasket for the UK/EU/JDM "square top" manifold?

Having said that, I just checked mine in the garage and there is no discernible part number on it. The gaskets are very different...

Upper to lower square top gasket: BP6Z-13-136

99/00 Upper to lower: BP5A-13-135

01/05 Upper to lower: BP6F-13-135

I'm drunk so I can't figure out the rest of what you are trying to ask.

Intake manifold to block gasket should be the same for BP4W (99/00) BP6D (01-05) and BPZ3 (the engine your JDM manifold came from) but will NOT interchange with the earlier 94-97 BP 1.8.

Its not really THAT many gaskets, but its going to suck hunting them all down.

HAHAHA! This guy! :giggle:

Yeah sorry should have made myself clearer, its the gasket that goes from the top half to the bottom half.

The plenum to head gasket is the same all on NB heads as far as I'm aware.
The motor is getting built from a range of parts. The block is a 94 NA8 block, comes with head and everything but I have an SE BP-4W which has been ported and polished, you guys call the SEs MSMs.

The manifold came from a 2001 VVT motor.

So I think I should be right with ordering a NB8A gasket kit (1999-2000) and just replacing the VTCS gasket with the square top gasket right?

Ahh, Australia! Ok, this is going to be even more complicated, I have no idea what engine codes you guys have.

Ok yeah, its different ;)

As far as I know, this is correct for all USDM NBs.

Yes, you will want the NB gaskets to match the head accessories, everything from the head gasket on up. Read up on here about the coolant reroute and head gasket revisions. It will make a big difference.

If it doesn't have the VTCS or VICS butterflies in it anywhere, then it should be the BP6Z-13-136 upper to lower gasket.

(I had to look up NB8A and NB8B. We sometimes call them NB1 & NB2 over here.) As long as its an NB revision engine, then it sounds good to me.

Out of curiosity, do you have the throttle body that came from that 2001 engine/manifold? I'm curious as to if it has some sort of weight or damper attached to it as some of us have suspected. Good pics would be worth their weight in props :bigtu:

Edit: Shit, I believe there is a revision in the oil pump for the VVT motors, and I believe there is also an o-ring that was added on later pumps but I can't remember the cutoff. Something to be aware of anyway.

Yep I do, looks all pretty standard to me. I'll report back with pics in two or three days. It's stored away in storage at the moment so I'll need to pull it out.

Thanks heaps for the info :)

Already got a Begi coolant reroute kit and Escalade (or something rather) hose that runs from the back of the head all the way to the radiator neck.
