WOW thanks SamNavy for the link and the referral! It makes me happy to be involved with a community that is so helpful and gives back. Everyday we quote and ship parts at amazing prices. We really strive to be the best for you guys. So when I see additude and feed back like this, even though it may seem so simple. I know that at the end of the day I am lucky to be involved in a community that is so supportive.

Thanks so much guys. With out you we wouldn't be here today. Stay tuned for some very exciting new for 2012!
Happy Holidays.

I have a 99' head I might be willing to ship for the right price... (shameless plug)

Yes they will work. Just be sure to get the stock size not +1mm oversize.

If you do go with a '99 head, remember that you'll need the intake manifold to go along with it, and I think the coil-packs are a little different, so you may have to fab up a bracket or something. And I have no idea how VICS activation would work, but ideally at this point you'd also be investing in a squaretop manifold or gutting it completely as is the fad of the day.

Headwork can make a big difference... I'd love to see somebody run a GT2554r with some major headwork on a larger displacement block and VVT head... can you see 15psi by 1500rpm?

In saying that, I too agree that it would not make much economic sense to invest heavily in port work in the older head. the newer heads are that much better.

You will not need the older head to be ported anyway. You can easily meet your goals without it.

Edit: Samnavy you beat me to the post. I like how you mentioned the inexpensive cam option.

What mods are necessary to put a 99-00 head on 95-97 block?

miata2fast 12-24-2011 07:45 AM

Clos561, there is nothing that needs to be modified to put a 99 head on the 95 - 97 block.

Edit: let me refrase that. Nothing to the block, however the 95 intake mani will not work. See samnavy's post above.
