Heater core hardline leaking at the block...

so... it appears some time over the last 6 months of the car not running i have developed a leak from the swirl pot thing on the block to the hard line back to the heater core....

i never had it apart, but what might i use as some kind of remediation? is it an oring that i can put a new one in... or is it a bitch to fix?

the FSM i have doesnt show anything regarding that.

thanks,
Matt

Its a flat gasket. to a housing. Perhaps your hose is split...But that area is where Thermostat relocates to with a coolant Re route... Search Thermostat, back of head,or coolant re route. you will get lots of pictures of setups and how things are aranged back there. If you have to repair it, might as well upgrade it with a Coolant Re route!!

thank god for vbands... an hour later and i have it all apart.

there is an oring in it that was chunked up... i need to call mazda and order another one.

btw... it was at the front of the engine... that long line that goes under the turbo manifold.

Are you talking about the mixing manifold or the thermostat housing? Cause the o-ring is on the mixing manifold, but you're talking about something on the front of the engine.

The mixing manifold...

Yeah, there's an oring there. The PO used RTV on mine to fix a leak. Seemed to work.

Yah mine had a leak, its such a pain to pull it all the way off (in order to replace the o ring), so I just pulled mine slightly out and slathered it with blue RTV, which fixed it nicely

yeah, the mixing manifold (which is what i meant by swirl pot) and when i said front of engine.. this is on the side at the front of the engine.

I found an oring kit here in my basement that had a similar sized oring. so i will rtv that up and toss it in. i would love to get tuning with the aem ems.
