Help me! Oil feed (sandwich plate)
I'm going turbo and i bought this sandwich plate https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1502b009bf.jpg
So ... this will be the layout https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4961805725.jpg If i put an oil restrictor on the line ( because i have a ball bearing turbo IHI VJ14 ) Did that affect engine lubrication ? ... because it actually stops all the flow from the filter to the engine.... I'm confused... Help me... is this a good oil feed layout ? Dosen't the restrictor and the turbo itself affect oil flow to the engine ? How should i do this ? Give me some advices please ... |

No. Oil comes from the pump, passes through the filter, and goes to the adapter. SOME of the oil then goes to the turbo, and drains directly from the turbo into the pan. The rest of the oil feeds the engine as normal.
Fair warning: This is an extremely basic concept. If you're struggling here, you will likely not get to the end of your project successfully without a substantial amount of additional research on your own. |

Also, if you want to run an oil cooler you will need a thermostatic sandwich plate. Otherwise your oil will never warm up.

I should close the circuit on the adapter ( red line - right ) so the main oil line goes directly to the engine....( or better i could place a cooler there ) and get the oil feed from the side then return to oil pan.... But that means i should drill into the oil pan.. right ? and only in discussion... the oil first passes the adapter .. before the filter.. because is comming from the pump on the exterior side... where the adapter is... and then return from filter trough center where adapter have just a hole so the oil can pass... https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...33ec45f2fd.gif Anyway.... let's conclude.... is that the good way to do it .. .like i sketch it this time ? |

The "traditional" way could not possibly be any easier. Why use a sandwich adapter? |
