Hole in intercooling pipe need help!

So i have a rubber intercooler pipe that got into contact with the pullys and wore a hole into it. i wanna try to repair it but not sure how to do so. also does the intercooler pipe see vaccum because i dont want a repair if it fails to get sucked into my engine..

Fireindc Jul 17, 2012 01:19 AM

Duct tape?

Sounds like you need a new pipe, other than some ghetto ---- you aren't going to repair it. And yes your IC pipes see vacuum.

huntsmcgee Jul 17, 2012 01:28 AM

ok thanks i think imma run to the store and buy black duct tape and wrap the hell out of it. if it works great if not new pipe.

Pretty sure they won't. Vac is caused by the engine trying to pull air past a closed throttle. The IC pipes are pre TB.

you'll need to cut the hose completely through, add a small length of pipe in the proper diamter, and clamp the hose back together.

lol at duct tape.

this is not going to end well.

Ryan_G Jul 17, 2012 08:46 AM

nonsense... duct tape can fix anything!

Braineack Jul 17, 2012 08:51 AM

until you boost again, sure.

I would BET that duct tape will work as a temporary solution, id be amazed if 6-8 layers of duct tape or gaffa tape wont take 10psi over a small 10mm hole.

Aren't there DIY silicone kits for making your own couplers? I'd imagine you can use it to repair as well.

And everyone knows that duct tape adhesive handles heat really well and never gets gooey.

Sure, why not. Haven't been offered anything in months, might as well start getting action somewhere.

INB4 "DUCTAPE IN MAH TURBOZ!!!!!11!" thread :giggle:

natesturbo Jul 17, 2012 10:29 PM

The only way I see duct tape working in IC piping is if it was on the inside, but then what about when it falls off and goes somewhere else.
Next thread: how do I get duct tape out of my intake manifold without any tools.

I was joking about the duct tape, but let us know how it goes. I'm sure it would hold for a short time..

Get a rubber coupler and slip it on top of it, add clamps or do u not have any room for that?
