How Big is Too Big
This isnt a question of what turbo to use or anything like that, just wondering as to what everyone's opinion on how big is too big for a turbo on our cars?

Ok I'm liking the obvious answers.
Now for actually Miata(read a turbo that is not half the size and or weight of the car or bigger) applications. |

That's more like it, although I think those are about half the size of the motor. I had a VT50(fig is comparable to the gt55?) and it is freaking HUGE, got it for $10 tho, thinking about making a homemade jet engine out of it.

Look at the size of the hose clamp on the inlet!

That all goes down to what you want, and how your motor is built.
Drag racing with a built motor. The sky is the limit. Stock motor. Some have used the GT3071. But on stock you can't run crazy boost for long, you will have to much power. Teh car will some lag with turbo's like that. If you want it streetable on stock internals, most usually go with GT2554 GT2560-Gt2871, or T3. But any turbo is better than no turbo. ( I'm sure someone will post a weed eater turbo after that coment) LOL. |
