How do I check piston to valve clearance on VVT engine in limit positions
 
Hello Guys,

I am checking valve to piston clearance on VVT engine and I came to a question, as I cannot figure it out myself, maybe I am too lazy, I dunno...

So obviously, without pressure in the engine, I cannot move the cam wheel actuator, but it is probably somehow possible, so I can check clearance in both fully retart and fully advanced possitions.
How do I do this ? Any tips ?

Advance intake cam 3 timing belt teeth. This is the same as max VVT advance. Obviously, this will cause problems if you're worried about true contact rather than just insufficient clearance.

Timing the engine normally will be max retard.

That makes sense , so that is about 23.5°, I believe maximum for VVT actuator is what, 24 cam degrees ?

Thanks for helping me out, now I now I can add more compression in the future and still be good. Now there is 1.6mm clearance, without gasket, and I am at 11.3:1 Compression ratio with 1mm Gasket.

Fair number of online sources say 47 crank degrees for VVT range, so it should actually be spot on. Don't get too close with the shaving :party:
