These are good threads. Keep'em coming.

Just picked up block and head tonight and once again, as with all your threads, this will help a lot!

Shop I picked it up from moreorless walked me through the same procedure.

Quick question though, what would you recommend using to lube surfaces for more longer term storage (ie. approx 1 month before assy)? I read on another forum someone suggesting to apply some STP oil treatment over WD40...

During assy, for the bores I plan to use just engine oil.

For bearing surfaces, if I've previously cleaned and lubed it up with some rust inhibitor oil or whatever, do I need to make sure it's 100% degreased before applying assy lube or should I be good to just throw the assy lube on?

yeah make sure all that machine stuff is out!

rkim... oil it with what ever you have handy, WD40, oil, ATF anything to fight rust, and check it every few weeks and reapply as needed.

Once you are ready for assembly, wash it all over again, even if it has been bagged.

Ok thanks Dale. No sense in doing things twice so will keep it all oiled up for now and wait until spring.
